Vintage KEEN KUTTER #KS102 Fishtail Butter & Molasses Switchblade knife made under contract by Schrade Cut Co of Walden, NY sometime between 1916 and 1946. The knife measures 4 inches closed and 7 3/16 inches open with brass liners and nickel silver bolsters, button and safety. The clip blade is 99% full and shiny and the tang is stamped KEEN KUTTER inside the Simmons emblem and the backside marked US PATS DEC 21, 09, SEPT 13, 10 and JUNE 6. 16. The scales (handles) are brown lined cream celluloid, often called Butter & Molasses and are in excellent condition with one hairline crack on the back scale. The knife works well with the blade tip below liners closed, opens fully when button is pressed and has very good lockup open with about 1/16" movement at the tip open. Barely rattles if shaken with blade open, as most of these do after years of use. Safety works. EX- condition.
