Vintage KEEN KUTTER #KS102 Fishtail Butter & Molasses Switchblade knife made under contract by Schrade Cut Co of Walden, NY sometime between 1916 and 1946. The knife measures 4 inches closed and 7.25 inches open with brass liners and nickel silver bolsters, button and safety. The clip blade is 99% full and shiny and has been lightly cleaned. The tang is stamped KEEN KUTTER inside the Simmons emblem and the backside marked US PATS DEC 21, 09, SEPT 13, 10 and JUNE 6. 16. The scales (handles) are brown lined cream celluloid, often called Butter & Molasses and are in very good condition with some minor flaws and a couple of tiny hairline cracks as most of these do have over time and a small area of internal cracking, not very noticeable. The knife works well with the blade tip deep and centered in the well closed, opens fully when button is pressed and has average lockup open with about 3/16" up and down at the tip. Rattles if shaken with blade open, as most of these do after years of use. Safety works. VG+ condition.
