z KABAR USA Medium (Baby) GRIZZLY Winterbottom Stag Automatic knife vintage

Vintage KABAR USA Medium (Baby) GRIZZLY Winterbottom Stag Automatic knife made by Union Cut Co sometime between 1920 and 1950. This is the medium size switchblade made with the KABAR stamp and has been referred to for many years by collectors as the "Baby Griz". Until recent years it was little known that there were actually THREE sizes. The smaller version is shaped different and is VERY RARE! This knife measures 5.25 inches closed and 9 inches open with brass liners and nickel silver bolsters, button and pins. The clip blade is about 94% full and has been professionally cleaned at some point. It is a little short and has a little loss from sharpening, but the blade looks great. The scales are Winterbottom stag. Originally mostly smooth stag with grooves cut into it. The knife works great with blade tip even with the liners closed, good snap and good lockup with about 1/8 inch up and down and a little side to side at the tip. Rattles if shaken with the blade open as many of these old Grizzlies do. EX condition.
