Vintage Ka-bar lever knife with stag handles made by the Union Cutlery Co of Olean, NY most likely mid 1930s and was designated the model 21105. The knife measures 4.5 inches closed and 8 inches open and has thick brass liners with nickel silver bolsters, lever & pins. The Saber grind Clip blade is 99% full or better with nice even patina, light spotting with a little peppering and the tang is stamped KA-BAR on the front and UNION CUT CO OLEAN NY on the rear. The stag scales are in nice condition with yellowing from age and two hairline pin cracks on the back scale. The knife works great with the blade tip at the liners closed, strong snap and excellent lockup open with tiny bit of movement at the tip and No rattle if shaken with blade open.
This is a transitional knife with smooth rectangular lever made between the older Teardrop lever knives and the newer rectangular lever with lines (grooves) that give better control when opening the knife. The older teardrop levers were wider and accommodated the thumb when opening, but when they changed to a smaller rectangular smooth lever customers had some trouble with thumbs slipping a bit when opening so they added the grooves later for better control. It works fine, but I can see how the grooved levers give better control. Interesting and very nice old Kabar switchblade. 100% money back guarantee including return shipping if not completely satisfied with this knife. VG+ condition.
