This knife was made under contract by the Geo Schrade Knife Co of Bridgeport, CT for the Jewelry & Cutlery Novelty Co in the late 1930s and 40s. All of the JCN knives seem to have metal handles, some gold wash, some real gold and some other metal options. This one Is marked on the bail 12K GF, which stands for Gold Filled (technically gold plated). The blade is marked JCN CO PAT 11-9-37 and is nearly full with some patina and spotting. No other markings on the knife. The gold plated handles are in good condition with a light pattern and rectangular signet to engrave initials on the handle. Most of the gold plating has worn off the back scale. The knife works great. Nice old American gentleman's switchblade.
