Vintage Hammer Brand toothpick style switchblade made in Providence, RI in the 1950s by the Imperial Knife Co. It was designated the model JM-90-PBC and measures 4.25 inches closed and 7 1/2 inches open and has brass liners. The blade is nearly full with patina, pitting, scratches, & some spotting. Also some grinder marks on the back cutting edge. It's marked Hammer Brand USA on the front with a picture of an arm holding a hammer. The back is marked with 2 patent numbers. The scales are hollow metal wrapped in Candystripe celluloid with a little spotting underneath. Some light rust on the front bottom bolster. The knife works well. Blade tip seats about 1/8" above liners closed, opens fully and locks with approximately 1/4" up and down and some side to side movement. Rattles if shaken when open. Safety works. Nice old American fisherman's switchblade in VG- condition.
