Imperial Hammer Brand toothpick switchblade made by the Imperial Knife Co of Providence, RI in the 1950s. The scales are commonly referred to as "cracked ice" and are hollow steel wrapped in a thin layer of celluloid. The knife measures 4.25 inches closed and 7 5/8 inches open with brass liners. Stamped Hammer Brand USA with a picture of an arm holding a hammer on the tang and 2 sets of patent numbers on the rear. The blade is mostly full with some of the original factory finish with some scratches, light patina and a couple of pepper spots. Works well with blade tip seating just above the liners, good snap and locks open with about 3/16" up and down and some side to side. Does rattle if shaken with blade open, as most of these do with a lot of use. Safety works.
