Vintage Hammer Brand toothpick style switchblade made in Providence, RI in the 1950s by the Imperial Knife Co. This knife measures 4.25 inches closed and just over 7.5 inches open and has steel liners. The scales are hollow metal wrapped in candystripe celluloid. The blade is full with much of the original factory finish and is marked Hammer Brand USA on the front with a picture of an arm holding a hammer. The back is marked with 2 patent numbers. The knife works well. Blade tip seats deep, opens fully and super tight lockup open, which is not common with these knives. Safety works. Nice old American fisherman's switchblade. Helpful tip: These knives open best with a downward sweeping motion on the button rather than a direct push straight down. This is one that opens better using this tip.
