This knife was made by the Flylock Knife Co, a division of Challenge Cutlery Corp of Bridgeport, CT in the late 1920s. It's the larger size of the two bladed switchblades that the company made measuring 3 3/8" closed. The knife has two blades, each is activated by sliding an oval button, one on each side of the knife. Both blades stamped FLYLOCK KNIFE CO REG US PAT OFF on the front. THE FLY LOCK KNIFE CO B'PORT CONN on the rear of the big blade with "THE FLYLOCK" arched and US PAT MARCH 5, 1918 on the back of the small blade. The scales (handles) are Smoked Pearl celluloid and are beautiful with one crack through center pin on the front. The blades are mostly full and shiny with some very light scratches and very light pepper spots. The knife functions well with no peek when closed. Blades open as they should with good lockup when open. No kickback and no rattle. This knife will be featured in the book Antique American Switchblades 2 and comes with a laminated Certificate of Authenticity. German silver tip bolsters are a nice feature on this beautiful old American switchblade.
