Flylock Double Silver colored Ornate metal handled switchblade knife
Flylock Double Silver colored Ornate metal handled switchblade knife
This knife was made by the Flylock Knife Co, a division of Challenge Cutlery Corp of Bridgeport, CT in the late 1920s. It's the larger size of the two bladed switchblades that the company made measuring 3 3/8" closed and 7 inches with both blades open and has nickel silver liners and buttons. Each blade is activated by sliding an oval button, one on each side of the knife. The blades are mostly full and shiny with some pitting. The scales (handles) look like nickel silver, but they are magnetic, so maybe light coating with several dents in both. The knife functions well with no peek when closed. Large blade opens fully and locks, small blade has kickback, but good lockup when pushed into the open position. Large blade has approximately 1/8 inch movement both ways at the tip when open. Shackle is smooth and most likely not original to the knife. Overall a decent working example of a 100 year old American switchblade designed by George Schrade. VG condition
