Flylock Double Olive Orange celluloid vintage automatic knife
Flylock Double Olive Orange celluloid vintage automatic knife
This knife was made by the Flylock Knife Co, a division of Challenge Cutlery Corp of Bridgeport, CT in the 1920s. It's the larger size of the two bladed switchblades that the company made measuring 3 3/8" closed and 7 inches open. The knife has two blades, each is activated by sliding an oval button, one on each side of the knife. The blades are mostly full and have been lightly cleaned leaving some light scratches. The main blade is stamped Flylock over REG US PAT OFF and the back tang is stamped FLYLOCK KNIFE CO B'PORT CONN. The small blade has the same front markings as the big blade, but the back is stamped US PAT MARCH 5 1918. The scales (handles) are Olive & Orange mottled celluloid and are in good condition with one hairline crack across the front scale through the center pin. The knife functions well with small blade having slight peek when closed. Blades open as they should with good average lockup when open. Small blade has kickback. Nice 100 year old American double switchblade. VG+ condition.
