Rizzuto Estileto Milano 22cm Japanese vintage swing guard automatic knife made in Japan in the 1960s & 70s and were inspired by Italian switchblades of the era . These knives were used in over 80 movies between 1960 and early 00s and are therefore very popular with switchblade & movie enthusiasts. This is the most common size, 9 inch and the most common color, black. They were very affordable which is probably why they were often used as switchblades in movies.
The knife measures 22.1cm (8 11/16 inches) open and 4.75 inches closed with steel liners & bolsters and brass button, safety & pins with nickel silver decorated lanyard ring. The bayonet blade is 99% full, or better with original finish with lots of light scratches and the ricasso is stamped STAINLESS STEEL with RIZZUTO ESTILETO MILANO stamped on the face below the spine. The black synthetic scales are in great condition with some handling marks/scuffs. The knife works well with the blade tip deep & centered closed, good snap and locks open with 1/4" up and down that springs back when you let go. Does rattle if shaken with blade open. The safety does work, but a little loose. Nice example of a vintage "Italian style" movie prop switchblade. VG+ condition.
