Edgemaster 1940s Automatic Knife Display Card REPRODUCTION
Edgemaster 1940s Automatic Knife Display Card REPRODUCTION
Edgemaster 1940s Automatic Knife Display Card REPRODUCTION limited edition 1 of 10 made. Back in the late 1940s and most of the 1950s switchblade knives made by at least 3 American companies were often sold on display cards (boards) on shelves and checkout counters at stores and gas stations. The customer could just take the knife of their choice off the card and pay for it. Unfortunately most of these colorful marketing display cards were thrown away after they were emptied, so not many still exist. I have been fortunate to own several original display cards over the years and I thought it would be nice if other collectors could have the chance to display knives from their collections on these colorful cards. It's also a fun way to collect by filling the cards as you find the right knives to put on them! This card would have likely have originally had 12 fishtail, or cigar jack, or fatjack switchblade knives on it directly from the factory. I have included pictures of a couple of original cards with the original knives still in place on them to show how great they look when full of knives! There is a folding easel on the back so the cards will stand on a shelf, or file cabinet and they also look great behind glass in a wall display!
Each card is authenticated on the back by Mark Erickson, author of the book Antique American Switchblades as well as having a series number and holographic serial number.
