E WECK & SON NEW YORK double picked bone tip bolster switchblade knife
E WECK & SON NEW YORK double picked bone tip bolster switchblade knife
Vintage E WECK & SON NEW YORK medium double Jigged bone switchblade knife. This knife was made under contract by the Schrade Cutlery Co of Walden NY in the early 1900s for E. Weck & Son Co of New York and is one of at least three different models of switchblade knives made for that company by Schrade. This is the medium double and measures 3 3/8" closed and 7 1/8" open with brass liners. The larger blade is stamped E. WECK & SON NEW YORK and the smaller blade stamped US PATS over DEC 21, 09, SEPT 13, 10 and JUNE 6, 16. Both blades are mostly full and shiny with some light scratches and have been lightly cleaned. The scales (handles) are picked bone and are in good condition with one hairline crack through one pin and the knife has nickel silver tip bolsters. The knife works well with both blade tips below the liners closed, good snap and very good lockup on the small blade with about 1/8 inch up and down on the big blade. Both blades have some kickback when opening, but lock when pushed into full open position. Both safeties work. VG+ condition.
