Vintage Shur-Snap bowtie switchblade #1800CB made by the Colonial Knife Co of Providence, RI in the mid 1950s. This is an early generation 3 model made before 1955 which we can date by the characteristics of small domed button and bolsters. This knife measures 4 inches closed and 7 1/8 inches open with brass liners, steel bolsters & button and nickel silver safety. The saber grind blade is mostly full (97%) and shiny with some scratches and shallow pitting and is stamped SHUR SNAP COLONIAL PROV USA on the tang. The scales are tan swirl synthetic and in very good condition with a little shrinkage near the bottom bolster on the back scale. The knife works well, tip about 1/16" above the liners closed, good snap and locks open with about 3/16" up and down and some side to side at the tip. Average lockup for these Shur Snap knives that have seen a fair amount of use over the years. Rattles if shaken with blade open. Safety does not work. VG- condition
