Vintage Colonial PRONTO 1950s Fatjack with Imitation Tortoise handles switchblade knife made by the Colonial Knife Co of Providence, RI around 1950. These PRONTO marked knives were only made for a few years until they changed the name stamped on this model from PRONTO to SHUR SNAP around 1953. The knife measures 4 1/8 inches closed and 7 inches open with brass liners, steel button and nickel silver safety. The clip swedge blade is 98% full or better and shiny with a little spotting and the tang is stamped PRONTO COLONIAL PROV. USA. The beautiful Imitation Tortoise scales are not original to the knife and are in very good condition with no cracks. The knife works well with blade tip seating deep & centered closed, strong snap and locks open with nearly 1/4" up and down at the tip. Rattles if shaken up and down with blade open. Safety does not work properly. Nicely re-handled 1950s vintage automatic knife in VG condition.
