Colonial Kemper Thomas Company Salesman hinged display box w/ knives Snappy Flylock
Colonial Kemper Thomas Company Salesman hinged display box w/ knives Snappy Flylock
Here is a very Special item. This hinged blue display box still contains 7 original knives and I've added a 1920s Flylock double with Kemper Thomas advertising etch to the group. This box was most likely carried by a salesman to show to customers between 1920s and 1970s and it includes a Colonial SNAPPY switchblade salesman's keychain knife with Kemper advertising and sample number on the scales. All of the knives have the company name and the Sample number on the scales and were made by Colonial for the company except for the Flylock double which was made by the Flylock Knife Co in the 1920s and does not have a sample number, just a blade etch with Kemper Thomas. The SNAPPY is #1207 and is in Near Mint - condition with a little shrinkage of the scales and a few light handling marks. Looks like there are two knives missing, 1203 and 1204, but for these 7 to still be together in the original salesman's case from the 1950s is pretty amazing! I just thought the Flylock would make a nice addition to the set, but I may choose to take it back out and sell separately if it doesn't sell as a set within a reasonable amount of time. This one is for the collectors who really love the history, like me. :)
