Colonial JIFFY Fatjack Red, white & Green swirl Vintage switchblade knife
Colonial JIFFY Fatjack Red, white & Green swirl Vintage switchblade knife
Vintage Fatjack Red, White & Green swirl switchblade knife made by the Colonial Knife Co of Providence, RI most likely between 1948 and 1951. It measures 4 1/8" closed and 7 1/8" open with brass liners, steel button and lanyard ring and nickel silver safety and pins. The clip blade is 100% full with original factory finish intact and is sterile with no factory marking. I believe this would have been marked JIFFY COLONIAL PROV USA on the tang IF not for legal issues that Colonial was having with Imperial Knife Co over the JIFFY trademark at the time. I know for a fact that Colonial stopped stamping the knives with the JIFFY name around 1951 and they still had to fill orders until the came up with a new trademark name for the knives. The knife traits including the multi color swirl scales make me pretty convinced it was supposed to be a JIFFY. The synthetic scales are a beautiful swirl of color, mainly red, white & green and in excellent condition with slight shrinkage and has lanyard ring at the back (bottom) of the knife. Works great with blade tip below liners when closed, strong snap and TIGHT lockup with no movement at the tip. Safety works. EX++ condition.
