Vintage CASE TESTED XX 5171L Stag Lever automatic knife made by WR CASE & SONS of Bradford PA sometime between 1920 and early 1940s. This is the larger of the two Lever release switchblades sold by the company measuring 5 3/8 inches closed and 9 7/16 inches open with nickel silver liners, bolsters, lever & pins. The Saber Grind Clip blade is 99% Full or better with light patina, scratches and a little peppering. The tang is stamped CASE TESTED XX and the backside is blank. The genuine stag scales are yellowed with age and are in very good condition with no cracks and one small chunk missing on the back scale near the bottom bolster as you can see in the pics. The bottom front bolster is stamped CASE TESTED XX. The knife works great with blade tip deep and centered closed, good snap and excellent lockup open with less than 1/16" movement at the tip open, but if you push harder there is some more movement that springs back when you let go. Does rattle if shaken with the blade open as most of these do. VG+ condition.
