This is a Bullfighter lever knife made in Japan for the Mexican tourist trade between the late 1950s and into the 1970s. These were very popular with tourists and were made in three different sizes with different blade shapes, different colors and some variations on the scenes. A lot of fun to collect. This knife is the most common size measuring 19cm (7 3/8 inches) open with steel liners and brass bolsters, lever and lanyard ring. White background with gold dragon on the front and bullfighter/ Matador scene on the back. The flat grind clip blade is shiny and nearly full & is marked STAINLESS STEEL. The knife works well with the blade tip even with the liner closed, opens fully and locks up good with a firm press of the lever. A little movement each way at the tip when open, but does not rattle if shaken. Overall a nice example of a very cool vintage white Mexican souvenir automatic lever knife.
