This is a Bullfighter Dragon lever knife made in Japan for the Mexican tourist trade between the late 1950s and into the 1970s. These were very popular with tourists and were made in three different sizes with different blade shapes, different colors and some variations on the scenes. A lot of fun to collect. This knife is the most common size measuring 19cm (7 3/8 inches) open with steel liners and brass bolsters, lever and lanyard ring. Green background with gold dragon on the front and bullfighter/ Matador scene on the back. The less common Spear point blade is shiny with some light scratches and is full. The blade is marked STAINLESS STEEL along the spine. The knife works well with the blade below the liner closed, opens strong and locks with some downward movement that springs back to full open when you let go.. Overall an excellent example of a very cool vintage green Mexican souvenir automatic lever knife.
