SHAPLEIGH HDW CO DE Scout jigged bone switchblade knife by Schrade
Vintage SHAPLEIGH HDW CO DE Scout jigged bone switchblade knife made under contract for the hardware giant by Schrade Cut Co of Walden, NY sometime between 1916 and 1946. The knife measures 4 1/4 inches closed and 7 1/4 inches open with steel liners and bolsters and nickel silver button and safety. The clip blade is mostly full (about 95%) and shiny with some light scratches and a little light peppering and has been lightly cleaned and is stamped SHAPLEIGH HDW CO around a diamond shape with letters DE inside (Diamond Edge trademark). The jigged bone scales are in very good condition with no noticeable flaws. The knife works well with blade tip below liners closed, good snap and average lockup with a little over 1/8" up and down and a bit of side to side at the tip. Rattles if shaken with blade open as most of these 100 year old switchblades do. VG+ condition.
