Vintage RPK 24cm Russian Prison Knife Brown synthetic scaled automatic knife. These knives were made by inmates of Russian prisons from the late 1940s into the 1980s to be sold or given as gifts or bribes. They are all hand made and very unique and beautiful pieces of Russian cutlery Folk Art. This knife measures 23.5cm (9 3/8 inches) open with a steel frame. The long clip saber grind carbon steel blade is mostly full and has some scratches and some crude engraving. The synthetic brown scales are in fair condition and have a rough patched area on the front scale near the blade. The knife works well with the blade tip seating deep, smooth strong snap and decent lockup when open with about 1/4" up an down at the tip. The blade is activated by sliding the back scale toward the back (bottom) of the knife which also releases the blade to close. VG condition
