Rostfre 8 PATENT 18cm Italian Horn Lockback Swinger style Automatic knife made for export to Belgium in the 1960s. Some of these New Old Stock switchblades were found recently in a box in Belgium. This was the first time I've seen this pattern which is like an Italian swing guard, but never had guards. Very interesting knives that measure 18cm (7 1/8 inches) open and just under 4 inches closed with Brass D Stamped liners and nickel silver bolsters & safety cap and nickel silver button. The flat grind spear point blade is 100% full with all of the factory finish intact and the ricasso is stamped Rostfre 8 and the reverse is stamped PATENT. I believe that the letter "i" from the end of Rostfrei was cut off on the edge of the ricasso when stamping, but not sure. The genuine buffalo horn scales are in excellent condition and mostly black with a little white streaking on the back scale. This is a lockback knife so you have to push on the backspring near the bottom bolsters to release the blade to be closed. The knife works great with blade tip below liners closed, strong snap and tight lockup open. New Old Stock condition. Color may vary slightly from pics.
