Vintage Schrade Cut Co #1613 3/4 large hunter switchblade with saber grind blade made in Walden, NY sometime between 1916 and 1946. This is the largest switchblade knife made by Schrade measuring 4 7/8" close and 8 5/8" open with steel liners and nickel silver bolsters, button and safety cap. The blade is 94% full or better and mostly shiny with scratches and some scattered peppering and the tang is stamped Schrade Cut Co over Walden, NY. The backside is stamped US PATS DEC 21, 09 SEPT 13, 10 and JUNE 6, 16 though hard to read part of it. The blade was likely originally etched "SCHRADE HUNTING KNIFE", but the etches were fragile and most disappeared with use. The jigged bone scales are in very good condition with a couple of little hairline cracks near the button. The knife works well with the blade tip below the liners closed, strong snap and very good lockup with less than 1/16" up and down at the tip. Does not rattle if shaken with blade open. Safety works. VG- condition.
