RPK Russian Prison Knife Vintage switchblade knife. These knives were made by inmates of Russian prisons back in the 1960s and 70s to be sold to raise capital for the prisons. They are all hand made and very unique pieces of Russian cutlery Folk Art. This knife measures 16.5cm (6.5 inches) open with a steel frame, button and bottom bolsters and brass cover plates. The blade is nearly full and has all of the original finish with some light scratches and no markings. The scale inserts are tan synthetic and are in nice condition. The knife works well with the blade tip seating about 1/8" above the liners when closed, smooth strong snap and locks open with nearly 1/4" movement, but springs back when you let go of the tip. Does not rattle if shaken when open. The blade is activated by sliding the knob and is closed the same way. Cool vintage Russian RPK switchblade. VG condition.
