RPK Russian Prison Knife Vintage Fisherman's switchblade knife. These knives were made by inmates of Russian prisons back in the 1960s and 70s to be sold to raise capital for the prisons. They are all hand made and very unique and beautiful pieces of Russian cutlery Folk Art. This knife measures 22.5cm (9 inches) open with a steel frame and bolster plates. The hollow ground filet style blade is full and has all of the original finish with no markings and fish scaler grooves on the spine. The small scale inserts look like wood, but I believe they are synthetic and are in nice condition. The knife works well with the blade tip seating deep in the well when closed, smooth snap and tight lockup when open. It is button open, button close. Very cool vintage Russian RPK Fishermans switchblade.
