Sterile 28cm Italian picklock 1950s vintage automatic knife

This is an Italian picklock from the 1950s. It is sterile, meaning that it never had a maker's mark, or importer stamped on the ricasso. These 50's picklock knives are very well made with D stamped brass liners, German silver bolsters, button and safety cap. The name picklock refers to how the knife is closed. You pick (lift) the locking tab with your thumbnail to release the blade to be closed. It measures 33cm (13 inches) open. This knife has a very full blade that sits centered in the well. The blade has heavy patina from age and some light scratches. The blade tip is even with the liners, good snap and good lockup open. The horn scales are dark with some light streaking on the front scale. Scales are in good condition with some light scuffs from handling over the years. Nice old Italian picklock!
