Vintage Shur Snap NOS fishtail switchblade with black imitation stag synthetic scales. This knife is New Old Stock and is from my Kansas find about 15 years ago where a box of these NOS Shur Snap knives was found in the basement of a home that was about to be torn down. The knife was made by the Colonial Knife Co of Providence, RI in the late 1950s, likely 1956-58 and designated the model #1800B. It measures 4 inches closed and 7.25 inches open and has brass liners. The tang is stamped SHUR SNAP over Colonial over PROV USA, but the stamp is weak, as many of these late production knives seem to have. We can tell it's a later 4th gen knife by the large domed button. The Gorgeous Carbon Steel Saber grind blade is full with all of the factory finish and some light marks from storage, opening a few times. The Black imitation stag synthetic scales are in nice condition with no shrinkage. Operates well with blade tip sitting deep and centered when closed, good snap and not great lockup from the factory with nearly 1/4" up and down at the tip. Button is a little stiff because it has not been fired much since the day it was made. Safety works. EX++ New Old Stock condition.
