Early Schrade Cut Co large Hunter switchblade with jigged bone scales (handles). This is the largest switchblade knife made by Schrade measuring 4 7/8" closed and a hair under 8 3/4" open with steel liners & bolsters and nickel silver button & safety cap. It was designated the model 1543 3/4 and this early version was made in Walden, NY sometime between 1910 and 1916. The blade is stamped SCHRADE CUT CO WALDEN, NY on the front and three patents on the rear of Feb 13, 06, Feb 26, 07 & Sept 13, 10. The blade is 98% full with most of the original finish intact with some very light scratches. Really nice blade. The jigged bone scales are held on with brass pins and are gorgeous and excellent condition with one tiny hairline crack by a pin on front scale that's not very noticeable. The knife works great with the blade tip seating deep in the well when closed, strong snap and locks open with barely any movement at the tip. Safety works. EX+ condition.
