Schrade Cut Co large Hunter switchblade with jigged bone scales (handles). This is the largest switchblade knife made by Schrade measuring 4 7/8" closed and 8 9/16" open with steel liners. It was designated the model 1543 3/4 and was made in Walden, NY sometime between 1916 and 1946. The blade is stamped SCHRADE CUT CO WALDEN, NY on the front and three patents on the rear of 09, 10, 16. The blade is approx 92% full with patina and some scratches and spots. Decent blade that could be cleaned. The jigged bone scales are in good condition with one tiny piece missing by the button that's not very noticeable. The knife works well with the blade tip seating a little above the liners when closed, strong snap and locks open with about 1/8 inch up and down and a little side to side movement when open. Does rattle if shaken with blade open. Safety works. The knife is in VG- condition and is a good working example of a vintage American hunter switchblade.
