This is a Remington R2403 Hunter switchblade made under contract by the Geo Schrade Knife Co of Bridgeport, CT between 1937 and 1944. This was the largest switchblade that Remington sold measuring 5 inches closed. It should measure 8.75 inches open, but this one is 8 3/8 inches open. The tip was likely broken at some point and reground. The good news is that the original Remington Master Knife etch is still legible on the front of the blade! These etches were pretty fragile and most didn't survive over the years. The blade still has some of the original factory finish and some scratches and light pitting, but overall good blade with etch. The bone scales are in good condition with no cracks or chips. The knife works well with the blade tip seating deep, good snap and locks open with approx 1/4 inch up and down at the tip with is fairly normal with these 70+ year old switchblades that have seen use over the years. Overall a decent example of a vintage American hunter switchblade in VG condition.
