Vintage Imperial toothpick style switchblade made in Providence, RI in the 1950s by the Imperial Knife Co. This knife measures 4.25 inches closed and just over 7.5 inches open and has brass liners. The scales are hollow metal with a jigged pattern wrapped in black celluloid that's in nice condition. The blade is full with most of the original factory finish and is marked Imperial PROV USA on the front and the back is marked with 2 patent numbers ending in 37 and 82. The knife works well. Blade tip seats deep, opens fully and locks open with approx .25 inches up and down and some side to side. It does rattle if shaken when open. Safety works. Nice old American fisherman's switchblade. Helpful tip: These knives open best with a downward sweeping motion on the button rather than a direct push straight down. This is one that opens better using this tip.
