Hammer Brand Serpentine Utility Jack switchblade from the 1950s. This knife was made by the Imperial Knife Co of Providence, RI and was designated the model JM98PB. The knife measures 3.5 inches closed and 6.25 inches open with steel liners. The blade is marked HAMMER BRAND USA with a picture of an arm holding a hammer and the back is marked with two patent numbers. The blade is 98% full and retains much of the original factory finish with some light scratches, light patina and a little spotting, but very nice. The handles (scales) are hollow steel with celluloid wrap in Zebra Patches celluloid, one of the coolest colors in my opinion. These more interesting colors were used in the late 1940s to mid 50s and are fun to collect. The wraps are in good condition with minimal shrinkage. The knife works GREAT with the blade tip seating deep when closed, strong snap and good lockup open with about 1/8" up and down. Safety does work properly. EX- condition.
