This is a Hammer Brand toothpick made by the Imperial Knife Co of Providence,RI in the 1950s. The knife measures 4.25 inches closed and 7 5/8 inches open and is stamped Hammer Brand USA with picture of an arm holding a hammer on the front and PAT NOS over two patent numbers on the back. The scales are hollow steel wrapped in candystripe celluloid. The blade is 100% full with all of the original factory finish intact! Gorgeous blade! The knife works well with blade tip below the liners when closed, opens strong and locks open with a little movement each way. It does rattle if shaken when open as nearly all of these do that have seen use. The knife is in EX+ condition and is a really nice example of a working vintage American toothpick switchblade from the 1950s.
