Antique Flylock Hunter Large Black Wormgroove switchblade knife made by the Flylock Knife Co, a division of Challenge Cut Co of Bridgeport, CT in the 1920s. This is the largest switchblade made by the company and it was designated the model #11000. It measures 5 inches closed and 8 11/16 inches open with steel liners & nickel silver plated steel bolsters with nickel silver button. The clip blade is 94% full with most of the original Flylock engraving on the face of the blade still mostly visible with lots of scratches from sharpening and use over the years. The tang is stamped Flylock REG US PAT OFF over US PAT 3-5-18 and backside is not stamped which is a little unusual. The black bakelite worm groove scales (handles) are in very good condition with some scuffs near the front bolster, no cracks and factory lanyard hole. There are a few little dings on the bolsters, not bad. The knife works well with the blade tip deep in the well closed, good snap and average lockup with about 3/16" up and down and a little side to side at the tip. Rattles if shaken with blade open as most of these do that have seen use over the past 100 years or so. Nice working example of a nearly 100 year old American made switchblade knife. Don't find many with original blade engraving still partially intact. VG- condition.
